Who saw the Rams and Puka Nacua coming last year? No one was hotter at the end of the season than the Rams. Had they managed to get past Detroit in the playoffs, they easily could have challenged the 49ers for a Super Bowl berth. And that’s crazy to think of considering how much youth is on this team.
It’s that youth that scares me a bit about this team. Can they be consistent? That is going to be the hallmark of the 2024 season for the Rams.
Matthew Stafford might be the best quarterback in the NFC right now as long as he’s healthy. His leadership on the field is going to be critical. The offense is filled with playmakers with one of the best offensive schemes in the NFL. There should be no problem scoring points again this year. The defense needs to continue to grow, and trying to fill the loss of Aaron Donald through the draft may make sense long term, but it doesn’t help this year.
Sean McVay has lost a lot of talent over the years from his coaching staff. Eventually, those losses are going to show up on the field. Especially with a young group that needs to be coached hard. Hopefully the new voices on the coaching staff will still be able to get the most out of the players.
With the loss of Raheem Morris and Aaron Donald, this defense is going to struggle. The Rams are going to be in a lot of shoot outs this year and hopefully Stafford’s arm can survive it. But the 2024 schedule isn’t too bad. As long as this team can stay focused and not play down to their competition there is a chance for this team to unseat San Francisco as the division winner. Stafford and McVay should be able to provide the leadership this team needs to make the playoffs again. From there, anything is possible.
2024 Prediction: 11-6 2nd NFC West/Playoffs Wild Card Round
