Well that was a stinker of a week! We got some great games, some close finishes, and a very bad, no good prediction week. I went an abysmal 7 – 6 for the week with Houston still to go tonight. That puts me at 106 – 58 for the season.

Ok, let’s start with the big game, Kansas City at Buffalo. I’ve been saying for a couple of weeks that the Chiefs were trending towards a loss and it finally happened. What’s more, Buffalo made the plays to win the game and they looked like the better team for most of it. The Josh Allen for MVP campaign just got their signature moment with his game clinching touchdown run at the end of the game. Can Buffalo compete with Detroit? I don’t know, but for this week at least, they stand as the class of the AFC.

On to the other Hits and Misses from the week:

Hit
The Falcons are in trouble. I had this as my game of the week because of the playoff implications for both conferences. With the loss, Atlanta has opened the door for Tampa to make a run at the division title. The Falcons could find themselves out of the playoffs.

Miss
The Colts and Anthony Richardson. I was pretty sure the Colts were done this season. Richardson made a comeback that might have saved his career. He has the winning intangibles you look for in a starting quarterback. They just need to work on his passing fundamentals.

Hit
San Francisco has lost their mystique. There’s no way Geno Smith makes that run against last year’s team. This defense looks slower in the secondary, and the physicality of the front seven is lacking. This team doesn’t intimidate teams any more. That’s bad news for their playoff chances.

Miss
Jordan Love and turnovers. I’ve said that you take the good with the bad when dealing with a gunslinger style quarterback. But turnovers in the red zone are game losers. The Packers are lucky to walk out of this game with a win. Love and his receivers need to get on the same page and find a way to get these turnovers under control.

Hit
Philadelphia looks like a Super Bowl contender. There are some good teams in the NFC, but Philadelphia looks like the only team that can stand toe to toe with the Lions. The defense has returned to form and is the perfect compliment to the big play offense. This team is sneaking up on the rest of the league.

Miss
Cincinnati’s playoff chances. Losing to the Chargers nearly killed their season. But with the Denver win and two games against the Steelers still on the schedule, their playoff chances are practically zero. This team has too much talent to be playing this poorly.

Detroit. I mean, by now we all know Detroit is good. But I’m still going to take credit for saying it.
