That’s right we’re keeping the receipts! What did I get right and what did I get wrong about Week 1? Of course we still have the Monday night game tonight, but for now let’s see how things went.

Hit

My weekly picks were 10-5, and I picked the New York Jets to win tonight in San Francisco.

Miss

Patriots and Bengals. I don’t feel too bad about this one because I feel like we all missed this one. But Bengals fans have got to be worried about their team. Not only did they lose to the Patriots, but they were outplayed by the Patriots. Yikes!

Hit

Rookie quarterbacks struggled in Week 1. Doesn’t mean they aren’t going to be good, just a point I made earlier that these guys need time to grow.

Miss

Dallas. I had them taking a step back this year, especially on offense. They looked strong and efficient against what should be a top 5 defense this year.

Hit

Arizona being a tough out. This is a very talented team and they lived up to my prediction of taking the Bills down to the wire. This team might not win a lot of games this year, but they will be competitive in all of them.

Miss

Atlanta and Pittsburgh. Watch TJ Watt every chance you get. You are watching a legend in the making. Pittsburgh may be challenged on offense, but somehow that defense is going to keep them in every game. Atlanta’s offense didn’t look much different from the 2023 version. Maybe we’ve overestimated the level of talent on that team?

Hit

Sam Darnold. I said he would be a good fit in Minnesota and keep them in the hunt for a playoff berth. Against the Giants he was efficient and incredibly accurate. Look for that to continue as he gets more comfortable in this offense.

Hit

Detroit’s toughness. I said this is the team that is going to be able to win late in the year. The overtime win shows they have the fortitude to win the close games.

That’s it, any week that I can have more hits than misses is a good week! What’s that? The Raiders, you ask? Well . . . . . . I’m willing to give that another week or two before calling it a miss.
