Can they do it?
Can the Lions actually put back to back seasons together and take that next step? History is against them, but this team feels different. This feels like the team that’s finally going to get it done for the fans in Detroit.
That’s right, I’m standing out there on the limb and saying it right now, the Detroit Lions are going to the Super Bowl.
When Dan Campbell was announced as the new head coach, I was skeptical. But he’s more than proven he’s the right man for this team. He’s the right mix of grit and crazy to get the most out of this team.
But I think the most important sign that this team is ready to make a run is the lack of offseason drama. We’re not hearing about hold outs. There aren’t any contract issues spilling over into the media. No one is requesting trades from the team. This has the feel of a team who understands they still have work to do if they want to succeed where last year’s team failed.
The offense should be even more high powered now that Gibbs has a year under his belt and the coaches seem to have figured out how to use him. Amon St Brown is a legitimate number one receiver, and Jared Goff continues to prove he’s the most underrated quarterback in the league.
The NFC North right now might be rebuilding, but in a few years, this could be the most competitive (and compelling) division in football. Let’s enjoy this ride for Detroit because over the next few years it’s going to be a battle for whoever wins the division.
2024 Prediction: 12-5 1st NFC North/Playoffs Super Bowl
